Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
